How are teams decided?
All athletes will attend two tryouts: in September for 17U and 18U Black teams or December for all other athletes and teams. At these tryouts, coaches will assess players/make roster selections or advise players to attend further tryout sessions to either finalize the current team or be considered to an alternate team for the player's age group.
How many players make up a roster?
Typically, there are 12 players selected to a roster, but Volleyball Alberta allows a maximum of 15 roster players. The number of player's selected for the roster will be at the coaching staff's discretion.
Who will coach a club team?
Our coaches are all highly dedicated and motivated individuals.
They must complete all of the Person in Authority screening requirements including a Criminal Record Check, Safe Sport Training, and a Screening Disclosure Form and must be approved by Volleyball Alberta as a coach.
All coaches must also complete the mandatory coach training required by VA and VC. To attend Nationals, coaches must complete additional courses including: Making Headway in Sport, Making Ethical Decsions, and Foundations of Volleyball.
Coaches are required to complete the NCCP (National Coaching Certifiction Program) Development Coach Training and Certification required by Volleyball Canada and Volleyball Alberta. More experienced coaches are encouraged to continue training in the NCCP Advanced Development Coach or Performance Coach pathways.
Coaches are drawn from many backgrounds and may include teachers, school volleyball coaches, adults who have played post secondary volleyball, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) students who have played club volleyball, RDP student athletes, parents with a volleyball background, and/or an elite level coach from the community.

Yes. Attending other sanctioned tournaments will be a team decision that is made at the team meeting and agreed upon by the team. How does a player obtain a uniform?
Uniforms will be sized and purchased by player's families at the TEAM meeting in December once teams are selected. Uniforms will be available for pick up by team manager at North Star Sports in mid-February. We encourage families to purchase a uniform that will fit a player for multiple years.
What is the style/colour requirement for uniforms?
Volleyball Canada sets out the expectation for uniforms.
JERSEYS:
13U/ 14U- One Jersey (black)
15U/18U- Two jerseys (1 white and 1 black)
SHORTS:
13U-14U- Black shorts
15U-18U- Kings Logo black shorts

Can a Club athlete play other sports?
Kings Club is supportive of multi-sport athletes. The Club asks that a Kings athlete be fair to both of their sporting teams. We ask that any scheduling conflicts are disclosed to the coach , and that the athlete does not unfairly disadvantage their King's team when there are conflicts (e.g. not ALWAYS missing volleyball for the other sport).
